Abstract
The success of the ARCO floating terminal construction unleashed a flood of interest in concrete floating sea structures. Up to now, coucrete floating structures had some weak points, one of which was its poor loading capacity because of its heavy weight. In the process of our design and construction of concrete barge, authors tried to lighten the weight of barge by means of using the lightweight and high strength concrete and adopting the structure of thin walls (thickness is 60mm) and adopting the prestressing method. And, by using the prefabrication technique, they succeeded in shortening the construction period. This paper reports the design of 500 D. W. T. loading capacity concrete barge, the fundamental experiments of the concrete materials and members, the method of barge construction and the field tests on the sea.
