Abstract

Kiba Park, having a total area of 24.2 ha, is being constructed under a concept of “Park of Water and Green Forest”. It was decided by the Ministry of Construction to be the Memorial Park for the Emperor's 50th Anniversary Sovereign. Kiba Park Grand Bridge, crossing over route No. 472 (Kasaibasi road) and Sendaibori River, will be a cable-stayed prestressed concrete bridge which links three parts of the park (northern, central and southern part) together. Due to the excellence in image design, the bridge will serve as the symbol of the park. Furthermore, it will also serve as an emergency evacuating path for the pedestrians at the time of earthquake disaster. This report describes the application of a compaction-free super workable concrete on the casting of main tower of this bridge.
