自己意識・他者意識の性差と年齢差――日本人を対象とした大規模横断調査――

Abstract

これまでの自己意識・他者意識に関する研究は，おもに青年期までの若年を対象として行われてきた。しかし，青年期の特徴は，それ以外の年齢層との比較を通じてより明確になる。そこで本研究では，幅広い年齢を対象に調査を行い，パーソナリティ特性としての自己意識・他者意識の性差と年齢差を明らかにすることを目的とした。調査対象は，ウェブ調査によって得られた15歳から79歳の日本人男女1,943名であった。はじめに，自己意識と他者意識を測定するための視点別意識尺度の因子的妥当性が確認された。次に，視点別意識尺度の各下位尺度の得点を従属変数，性別と年齢を独立変数とした重回帰分析を実施した。その結果，性別と年齢の主効果はすべての下位尺度で有意で，女性のほうが男性よりも得点が高く，若年のほうが高年よりも有意に得点が高かった。

Translated Abstract

Research on self-consciousness and other consciousness has mainly focused on the period up to adolescence. However, as Japan has entered the era of a super-aged society, it is important to know how older people perceive themselves and others and compare this with the one of adolescence. This study aimed to clarify gender and age differences in self-consciousness and other consciousness as personality traits by surveying a wide range of age groups. The data consisted of 1943 Japanese males and females, aged 15 to 79, obtained through a web survey. First, factors for measuring self-consciousness and other consciousness were found valid. Then, multiple regression analyses were conducted using the scores on each subscale of the Perspective-Based Consciousness Scale as the dependent variable and gender and age as independent variables. The results showed that the main effects of gender and age were significant for all subscales; women scoring higher than men and younger age groups scoring significantly higher than older age groups.
