Dichlorophenazines and their N-oxides except the 1, 4-, 1, 6-, and 2, 7-isomers were prepared by using the improved Wohl-Aue reaction from aromatic amines and nitro compounds. Oxidation of 2, 3- and 2, 8-dichlorophenazine with hydrogen peroxide in glacial acetic acid afforded their di-N-oxides.
