Abstract
1-Benzyl-, 3-benzyl-, and 1, 3-dibenzyl-4-hydroxycarbostyril were obtained by the method of Camps' quinolinediol synthesis. In the case of 3-benzyl compound, the molecular compound of 3-benzyl-4-hydroxycarbostyril with N-(β-phenylpropionyl)-anthranilic acid was isolated as the main reaction product. 1-Benzyl compound was also prepared according to Lutz's method.
