Abstract
In recent years, many station squares have improved by the use of the pedestrian deck. However, quantitative analysis and evaluation about the pedestrian deck in station square are still yet inadequate. Therefore, necessity and the possibility of the area calculating formula of the dual structured station squares are pointed out in some papers and researches.This research first reviews the postwar station square plan and area calculating formula. And then quantitatively categorize and evaluate all the station squares equipped with the pedestrian deck in the Kanto district from the viewpoint of area. In conclusion, the prospect of future maintenance is discussed by considering the area calculating technique.
