Abstract

Many local authorities in Japan have developed a basic plan and conducted some measures for city center revitalization. However, city center revitalization have been becoming very difficult, because of population declines in city center. Effects of Measures for city center revitalization might depend on urban structure and size of city center. Therefore, this study focused on 17 local cities and aimed to gain the fundamental knowledge to revitalize city center in local city. The last phase of this study, presented in this paper, analyzed (1) relationship between urban structure and size of city center and (2) effects of measures for city center revitalization considering urban structure.
