Abstract

This paper clarifies the evolution of greenbelt development in Senboku New Town and evaluates the landscape of greenways by the age of greenbelt development among the residents of Senboku New Town. The results showed that the greenbelt that has remained from the beginning of the development mainly extends around the pond, and that the majority of the greenbelt that has been maintained as a greenway is the greenbelt that was redeveloped after the development of the new town. It was also confirmed that greenways developed after 1979 were relatively more highly evaluated by residents. It was suggested that greenways that have been maintained since the initial development of Senboku New Town tend to be relatively low in evaluation because they have dense trees and are difficult for users to use due to problems with brightness and safety.
