Abstract
In this study, we explored methods of preserving agricultural space, mainly terraced rices, in the terraced rices of Takayama and Maki.
The first, it was to conduct a data survey to compare the farming conditions of different terraced rices. Second, interviews were conducted to compare the characteristics of the activity groups and initiatives of each terraced rices.
The most important things are to create a system for conservation. Conservation organizations need to have a farm management plan that leads to self-sustaining farming, new human resources, a management method that does not rely on the motivation of participants, and an activity plan that keeps them engaged in the activities.
