Abstract

As for Aqua Metropolis Osaka, waterside space has been regenerated. While progress has been made in the development of the waterfront area, the image transition people have of the waterfront space have not been clarified. In this study, using newspaper articles, we clarified the image transition of waterside space through text mining analysis of descriptive terms. Analysis using the co-occurrence network diagram revealed that many of the images were related to events in the waterfront space and surrounding towns, to the development of the Aqua Metropolis Osaka regeneration, and to the historical culture of the waterfront space and its area. It was suggested that, although the images were strongly dependent on specific locations during the initial period of the revitalization of Osaka as a waterfront city, the images have diversified at each location in accordance with the changes in the efforts of the Aqua Metropolis Osaka.
