The purpose of this paper is to survey how early childhood educator training facilities designated by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) should be involved in the training and in-service education of nursery teachers.
A designated nursery teacher training facility is required to provide high-quality education and capacity development for future nursery teachers engaged in a highly specialized job. We interviewed nursery school directors and examined whether they thought desirable skills for nursery teachers had been acquired by judging from their practices in a childcare spot. Our interviews were based on these two main points. The first is what a nursery school expects from a designated nursery teacher training facility. For example, the first main point includes how education at the training facility should be. The second is how a nursery school is involved in the in-service education of teachers.
As a result, we find the establishment of the foundation and the attitude of a nursery teacher to be the first main point. There are few estimated programs for human resource training in cooperation between both at the second point. An ingenious project is essential for revitalizing cooperation.
