Technology of Drug Delivery System for Gastroenterologists

Abstract

Many gastroenterologists have performed various treatments on several diseases such as inflammatory diseases and neoplastic diseases. Therefore, in the field of Gastroenterology, drug delivery system (DDS) is absolutely required for avoidance of drug-induced side effects. Development of DDS with polymeric materials such as biodegradable microspheres, etc., which could carry drugs and cytokines to targeted gastrointestinal tracts and liver, would contribute to future therapeutic strategy for gastrointestinal diseases.
