Abstract
Chat through keyboard input and voice chat are generally used in online games as a communication tool among players. However, there are issues such as the time required for input and being nervous about speaking up. This paper proposes a text-chat system by using speech recognition. The proposed system is expected to improve the qualities of communication and gaming experience through the online games. This study attempted to verify the accuracy of speech recognition and smoothness of communication by having subjects experience a prototyped game. Unity was used for the game prototyping, and Julius was used for the speech recognition system. As a result, the recognition rate was 23.1%. Improvement of the speech recognition accuracy is required for future issues.
