Abstract
Technical Information Office of Nippon Steel Corporation has been giving information retrieval service to the in-house users since 1973, with commercial bibliographic data bases in the form of magnetic tape. Those ten data bases contain four KANJI (Chinese character) data bases. And the answer lists from KANJI data bases are printed in KANJI and contain abstracts, so that the availability and effectiveness of the IR-system has remarkably increased. This paper describes the outline of the KANJI data bases, the function of the system, the key to KANJI treatment, and future problems of this system.
