A Study of a Transit Operation Efficiency Evaluation Method of Overlapping Route Segments considering the Characteristic of Integrated Public Transportation Networks

This study proposes an efficiency evaluation methodology considering overlapping bus lines and applies it to the Seoul bus system. A case study is implemented to apply the proposed methodology and compare it to an established methodology in terms of how well it works. The two sets of efficiency evaluation result are significantly different. By using the proposed methodology, it is possible to evaluate headway and reliability considering waiting time of a user, and to balance the headway of overlapping bus lines.
