There has been an increasing concern about understanding shippers’ behavior of Southeast Asian countries, as they are becoming global manufacturing hubs when more and more multinational companies decide to move their plants away from China to diverse the risks of trade war and disruption of supply chain. In this paper, by establishing the multinomial logit model, we examine the effect of time, cost, and service over the choice of port and carrier for shippers in Southern part of Viet Nam. We find that shippers regard ship calls frequency most significant, and shippers put more stress on time factors than cost factor.
