Air transportation has a profound impact on the development and modernization of a country or region through trade growth, job creation, tourism promotion, and healthcare and education improvement. This impact is particularly significant in less developed areas. However, despite the considerable growth in the airline industry in recent years, many regional airlines still need to overcome numerous challenges for survival and growth. This study focuses on the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and examines the business models of two regional airlines, Bangkok Airways and Susi Air, under a qualitative research framework, including the Business Model Canvas. The discussions and recommendations are made to help regional airlines achieve sustainable business development and support the region to strengthen air connectivity.
