Abstract

The growing global realization about the adverse impacts of fossil-fuel based vehicles has led to an increasing interest in the promotion and facilitation of sustainable modes of mobility. Due to this, the bicycle has been re-established as a relevant choice. Hence, an investigation into the attributes of urban bikeability is needed, so that the priority attributes can be identified and worked on to augment cycling in cities. This study aims to do so in two localities with distinct urban characteristics within the city of Jaipur, India. The study identifies attributes from literature and uses Importance-Satisfaction Analysis to determine the priority attributes based on user-perception. The results show that improvement in safety measures and dedicated bicycle infrastructure need to be prioritized for facilitating utility-based cycling within the rich urban fabric of Jaipur.
