Abstract
This study analysed interviews with five school librarians to examine their professional working environment. They work at several schools, in short bursts, and tend to have a low annual income. They try to convince themselves that being a school librarian involves " unpaid overtim "e, " volunteering" and " overtime work at home " because their working hours are short and their labor management is inadequate. Insufficient training means they cannot guarantee professionalism, and they are expected to improve themselves, but their working conditions are poor, so they feel burdened. In order to create a working environment in which they can exercise their profession fully, it is necessary to improve their working hours, wages and training. It is important for them to have support in order to maintain their identity and dignity as school librarians, and to receive appropriate treatment as professionals
