In the soft materials like liquid crystals, the responses to the external forces become easily nonlinear ones. We have developed the system for measurement of the nonlinear dielectric relaxation spectrum in a frequency domain and applied it to the ferroelectric liquid crystal (FLC) in the SmC phase. The profiles of the measured linear and nonlinear spectra make good agreements with the theoretically predicted ones. We also find that it is possible to measure the three material constants including, spontaneous polarization and rotational viscosity, simultaneously by this method.
