A characteristic electro-optical response is observed in a TN-LCD when ions were transported by applying an alternating electric field. The optical response depends on the mobility of ions, i.e. on the ion species. We observed different optical response in two area of image failure that caused by different process. This technique is an effective one that give information about ions, and is expected to be applied to the failure analysis in the TN-LCD.
