Abstract
Influence of tribological (frictional) properties of a polyimide film (for vertical alignment) on the pre-tilt angle in the micro-rubbing process is investigated. It is found that the pre-tilt angle can be controlled by a vertical load and the number of rubbing. The frictional work in the micro-rubbing process is evaluated by measuring the frictional force. It is found that the pre-tilt angle is almost regarded as the function of the frictional work ; the pre-tilt angle decreases with the increase of the frictional work.
