抄録

We have usually studied preparation and mesomorphic properties of troponoid liquid crystals because troponoid cores have large dipole moment to induce smectic phases. Recently, we reported liquid crystals with a 1,3-diazaazulene core, which has larger dipole moment (4.0 D) than tropolone. They showed highly-ordered smectic phases. In this study, we measured X-ray diffraction data of the oriented sample to determine the phases.
