Abstract
The phase transition behavior and optical properties of a liquid crystal composite (negative nematic and chiral compound) have been studied. The binary mixture exhibited cholesteric and blue phase. The chiral pitch and fan-shaped texture for the cholesteric phase were observed. The reversible opaque (light scattering) -transparent change is observed upon application of ac electric fields with low and high frequencies, respectively. The electro-optic effects is different to a (positive nematic and chiral compound) mixture.
