Optically Compensated Bend (OCB) -mode LCD is promising as the next generation display, because of its fast response and wide viewing anele. However, this mode requires transition from an initial splay alignment to bend alignment before operation. In this paper, we analyze the condition that facilitates this transition. Consequently, we succeeded in generating the bend alignment by controlling the disclination lines between right and left twist alignment and top- and bottom-splay alignment.
