In this report, we numerically analyzed the relationship between the electro-optical properties and the dispersion of birefringence of the retardation film Δn_R (λ) in a single-polarizer reflective TN-LCD with a retardation film to confirm the possibility of reducing power consumption. We found that the LCD produces an achromatic image with high luminance and a high contrast ratio, even if the on-voltage of the TFT-LCD is reduced to 2V when the Δn_R (λ) was optimized.
