Abstract
Liquid crystal transitions and phase separations in binary mixtures of the liquid crystal oligomers containing aromatic hydrocarbons, aliphatic hydrocarbons, or polymers were studied by means of polarizing optical microscopy and differential scanning calorimeter (DSC). The liquid crystalline behaviors of the mixtures of the liquid crystal tetramer and aromatic hydrocarbons such as terphenyl and anthracene were compared with those of the liquid crystal tetramer and n-C_<30>H_<62>.
