Abstract
The control of vertical alignment with small pretilt angle using a photo-alignment method has been expected to become a promising liquid crystal (LC) alignment method due to its dust and defect-free nature. In this paper, detailed studies on photo-alignment control of LC using a vertical alignment film are carried out under various preparation conditions of the film (baking temperature, film thickness). As the result, we find that effective generation of pretilt angle by photo-alignment method is possible by reducing the thickness of vertical alignment film.
