We measure spherical aberration and astigmatism properties of a liquid crystal (LC) lens with an external transparent electrode and eight-divided circularly hole-patterned electrodes. The interference fringe patterns are composed of elliptical fringes and the direction of major axis of the fringes can be rotated by applying the control voltage to each divided-electrode. The spherical aberration and astigmatism properties can also be controlled by adjusting the applied voltages.
