Abstract
Based on the new molecular design for highly ordered liquid crystalline phases discussed in the previous talk, we have synthesized new liquid crystalline derivatives and characterized their phase transition behaviors by POM, DSC and XRD measurement and charge transport properties by time-of-flight experiments. We found that they showed highly ordered smectic mesophase and high hole mobility up to 0.3cm2/Vs in the smectic phase of highly purified samples.
