Abstract
Liquid-crystal (LC) cylindrical-lenses with high resistance layer were fabricated. Rubbing directions were prepared parallel and perpendicular to the direction of slit in the electrode of the lens cells. Fringe patterns and intensity profiles were observed for both lens cells. In the case of parallel direction, lens power of over 2000 D as a cylindrical lens was obtained. On the other hand, in the case of perpendicular direction, asymmetrical focus pattern formed by asymmetrical optical phase distribution was observed.
