Abstract
Lyotropic liquid crystals form various phases, including nematic (N) phase and chiral nematic (N^*) phase, by changes in temperature and concentration. However, lyotropic blue phase has not been observed in the lyotropic liquid crystal that water is used as a solvent because an induced helical twisting of host lyotropic liquid crystal is very small. In this study, we investigated properties of chiral dopants in a lyotropic liquid crystal for an appearance of lyotropic blue phase.
