It is known that the layer repeat distance of thermotropic smectic liquid crystals can be elongated by introducing the simple linear hydrocarbon molecules. This is called the swollen smectic phase. Although the structure of swollen smectic phase has been investigated by some researchers, the dynamical features of this phase have not been clarified yet. In this paper, we investigate the molecular anisotropic diffusion in the swollen smectic phase by the forced Rayleigh scattering method (FRS).
