配向膜不要な液晶ディスプレイ用フィルム基板の開発

抄録

It has been known that stretched polymer films can align liquid c rystal (LC) molecules to some extent. However, the orientation of LC molecules is not enough to be used in a display. Studying orientation of LC molecules on the surface of many polymer films, we have found that a certain kind of films showed superior alig ning capability for LC molecules without using alignment layers. LC cells with such film substrates showed good display characteristics and those films are very promising as low cost film substrates.
