Orientational fluctuation of liquid crystalline Langmuir films: Dependence on the subphase

Abstract

Liquid crystalline ultrathin films should be strongly influenced by the substrate. In this report, we examined the dynamical properties of Langmuir films on a water surface including a small amount of gelling agent by means of light scattering experiment.We found the drastic change of the orientational fluctuation of the LC film caused by the surface gelation of the subphase.
