2,6-di(5'-octyl-2'-thienyl)naphthalene (8TNAT8) was already reported to show a high carrier mobility of hole in both highly ordered mesophase and crystalline phase in the order of 10-1 cm2V-1s-1.1) On the other hand, miscibility is a characteristic property of LCs and has been utilized in LCD technology to control some of physical properties such as temperature range and viscosity by blending. However, miscibility of LCs has not yet been studied as a tool for developing new organic semiconductor systems. In this work, binary mixtures of dithienylnaphthalene homologues were studied on their phase transitions and carrier mobility determined by Time-Of-Flight (TOF) measurements.
