We prepared some BPIII materials doped with 3.4 wt% of a liquid crystal oligomer and investigated their phase transition behavior. A linear dimer in which phenylpyrimidine and cyanobiphenyl units are connected via an octamethylene spacer was found to raise the Iso-BPIII transition temperature by 26.6 K. A temperature range of BPIII was extended to more than 80 K by polymer-stabilization. The PS-BPIII exhibited fast response and hysteresis-free switching at room temperature.
