A linear polysiloxane with diammonium salts in all monomer units was synthesized by polycondensation reaction of silane coupling agents. Spin-coated films of this polysiloxane were prepared and subjected to grazing incidence X-ray diffraction (GI-XRD) measurements. The results showed that the polysiloxane forms a hexagonal structure. The polysiloxane copolymerized with dimethyl siloxane monomer was found to form a humidity-responsive liquid crystalline phase, in which the hexagonal and lamellar structures change with changes in humidity.
