Control devices such as phased array antenna are indispensable for Millimeter-Wave (MMW) application, since the MMW is expected to be the mainstream frequency region for next generation high speed wireless communication. Phase shifter is the most important element for phased array antenna, and we have investigated phase shifter by using liquid crystal (LC) that is expected as low power consumption and low cost device. However, operation speed of the LC phase shifter is extremely slow due to the very long recovery time. In this study, we investigated operating characteristics of the LC MMW phase shifter under bias magnetic field to improve the recovery speed.
