A largely periodic nanostructure, called a photonic crystal, can exhibit a structural color based on Bragg’s reflection. Recently, we developed a dynamic photonic crystal composed of liquid-crystalline inorganic nanosheets dispersed in water, which can change its structural color in response to various external stimuli. To further functionalize the photonic crystal, in this work, we aim to synthesize a plasmonic photonic crystal using the functional nanosheets with plasmonic nanoparticles.
