The solid state NMR was applied to investigate the liquid crystal(5CB) alignment by measuring the temperature and the MAS rotation effects on the NMR spectra. The chemical shifts of 5CB-carbons in the nematic phase differ from those in the isotropic phase. At the temperature blow the TNI, the NMR spectra depend on the MAS rotation. A detailed discussion has been made for the changes in state of liquid crystal based on the NMR results.
