Reverse mode properties can be achieved in polymer dispersed liquid crystal (PDLC) cells using a UV curable liquid crystal (LC) as a polymer matrix. In this report, reverse mode PDLC cells with a homogeneous and a homeotropic orientations are made using nematic LCs with a positive and a negative dielectric anisotropies, respectively. These PDLC cells have a very wide viewing angle both in a transparent off-state and in a light scattering, on-state due to the refractive index anisotropy of the matrix.
