Recently, We have reported that a polymer network, which is formed in SmA phase by the photocure of UV photocurable liquid crystalline monoacrylates that are doped in a surface stabilized ferroelectric liquid crystal (SSFLC), eliminates zig-zag defects in SmC* phase, since a chevron structure is transformed into a quasi-bookshelf structure by the polymer main chain. In this study, we have observed the electrooptical effect of this polymer stabilized SSFLC (PS-SSFLC) with the aim of exploring the influence of the mesogenic side chain on the alignment structure of FLC molecules. As the experimental results, it is found that mesogenie side chain bonds strongly with main chain, and attarct FLC molecules in the rubbing direction.
