Abstract

Electronic absorption spectra of tetravalent uranium in LiCl and CsCl were measured. Redox potentials of U⁴⁺/U³⁺ and U³⁺/U⁰ couples were estimated by cyclic voltammetry. By adding SrCl₂ into the melts, changes in absorption spectra and cyclic voltammograms were seen. The effect of the coexisted Sr²⁺ on the coordination circumstance of uranium ions was discussed.
