A by-product, which was obtained from β-parotin fraction, was compared with parotin in chemical properties; amino acid composition, N-terminal residue, a content of carbohydrate and isoelectric point. From the results of these investigations, it was supposed that this substance might be parotin contaminating in the β-parotin fraction.
