Strawberry co-sorting facilities are expected to reduce labor in production. To promote their utilization, it is necessary to clarify not only the current situation of their establishment but also the issues, based on nationwide factual data. Therefore, this study aims to clarify the current situation and issues surrounding facilities’ establishment by analyzing a questionnaire survey targeting all Japan agricultural cooperatives. The analysis revealed that Japan agricultural cooperatives with established facilities were characterized by large-scale winter strawberry production areas, such as Kyushu. It also became clear that they evaluated the effectiveness of the facilities not only in terms of production but also in sales and marketing. The cooperatives that did not utilize
the facilities expected the facility’s primary benefits in terms of production and sales, but issues such as cooperative member needs and securing labor and human resources were more important than financial constraints in establishing the facility.
