An observation of Grey Nightjar (Caprimulgus jotaka) nest in a clear-cut area

Abstract

A trail camera was installed at a Grey Nightjar nest during incubation. It captured both still images and videos over a 24-hour period. The frequency of recordings was higher during the daytime and dropped sharply toward evening. The female left the nest after sunset and before sunrise, while no male was observed. The incubating female looked upward and gave a territorial call at night. After hatching, the female and chicks remained near the nest for about 20 days.
