1. The alkalicelluloses are ripened at different temperatures and their solubility is compared on the basis of equiviscosity.
2. The alkalicellulose ripened at a higher temperature has given more soluble xanthate or regenerated cellulose than those ripened at a lower temperature.
3. It was recognized from the results of the fractional solution of the regenerated cellulose that the former is much more uniform in solubility than the latter.
4. Accordingly it may be presumed that the higher the temperature of ripening the more homogeneously the alkalicellulose are lowerd.
5. Exceptional data obtained sometimes by ripening at a higher temperature are attributed to the heterogeneity of the ageing effect caused by the repeated evaporation and condensation of water during the ripening.
