Abstract
Until recently photocatalytic coatings in general are regarded as extremely sensitive and unreliable material chiefly because it is destined to adopt very fragile glassy binder to avoid harmful photocatalytic self-decomposition. According to our newly contrived method we adopt a hybrid binder between fluoropolymer and organic silicate, with which we can successfully solve almost all problems concerning applicability as well as film properties of photocatalytic coating itself, in place of conventional glassy inorganics. We further succeeded to give it various additional functions expected to an ordinary coating film, such as waterproof, UV shielding, or IR shielding, which will contribute to the wide range of utilization of photocatalytic coating.
