Development of the high water absorbing and water-retentive brick made from Shirasu as the main material

Abstract

The stratum of thick Shirasu exists in the south region of Kyushu Island. However, there are very few uses as industrial material of Shirasu. This report describes the manufacture method of the high absorbing and water-retentive brick made from Shirasu as the main material, and its effective performance. This brick may be able to be contributed to the measure against the heat island effect.
